The Billabong Neoprene Gloves 3mm are gloves from Billabong's Absolute range with five separate fingers (not mittens), designed for riders who need to keep real mobility and grip with the board, kite bar or boom in cold water.
Construction. Absolute neoprene 3 mm with sealed seams and tight cuffs at the wrist to minimize water entry. The palm features a non-slip reinforcement that improves grip on the boom, bar or kite lines. The five independent fingers let you keep fine dexterity, something a mitten can't give.
In the water. The 3 mm thickness puts them in the mild winter and between-season range in Mallorca, when the water is between 14 and 18°C and your hands are the first thing to go numb. They work well in long kite, wing and windsurfing sessions, and also in small wave surfing where you need to grab the rail.
How we see it at El Niño Mallorca. If you paddle or grab the bar and your fingers stiffen after a quarter hour, this glove extends your session. For hard Tramuntana winter a 5 mm is better, but the 3 mm is the most versatile year-round.
