The Starboard Lima Carbon S40 29mm Fixed 2024 is the standard Carbon version (not pre-preg) of the Lima paddle, in fixed-length format (non-adjustable). Same blade profile — narrow, flat, 13° angle — but with a less demanding build process than the pre-preg. Result: a sharper price while keeping practically the same geometry and feel.
Carbon vs Pre-preg:
- Standard carbon: traditional lay-up with liquid resin. More affordable, slightly heavier, marginally less stiff.
- Pre-preg: cloth pre-impregnated with resin, cured under pressure and heat. Stiffer, lighter, better weight-to-stiffness ratio. But noticeably more expensive.
For recreational and intense fitness use the difference between the two is real but small — only noticeable in very long sessions or sustained high cadence. For competitive racing the pre-preg pays off.
