The Starboard Whopper 10x34 ASAP is a hardboard SUP from Starboard. Hardboards have clear advantages over inflatables: superior stiffness (more speed, better tracking), better feel in waves or technical conditions, proven durability. The trade-off: they need storage space and road transport.

When to pick hardboard vs inflatable:

• Hardboard: you have a garage or garden, you drive with a roof rack, you prioritise performance.
• Inflatable: you live in a flat, you travel by plane, you need portability.

Typical constructions:

• EPS + glass (entry-level): lightweight and affordable.
• Wood sandwich (mid range): stiffer, best value for money.
• Carbon sandwich (premium): stiffest and lightest, for race and advanced riders.

How we recommend it at El Niño Mallorca. If you have a garage and drive with a roof rack, a hardboard is always the better option. For wave riding or competition, there's no contest.
